One Love Organics Skin Savior

What better green goddess to feature this week than Suzanne Leroux of One Love Organics. We thought a beauty goddess with love in the very name of her business (and a pink and peach brand I.D. to boot!) would make the perfect fit for February. Leaving behind life as a lawyer, Suzanne first began One Love to feed her frenzied interest in “beauty alchemy.” Her line of less-is-more natural luxuries, including stars like Chia Whip and Skin Savior waterless balm, have now become must-have staples on the short list of any green beauty shopper. Fall in love with these simple products, just as we did, and enjoy Suzanne’s insightful tips on staying gorgeous!

Can’t travel without My...

Tempur-Pedic neck pillow. I can sleep on almost any bed, but I need my pillow and this one is amazing. I take it everywhere with me!

In a pinch I…

Use Skin Savior as a deodorant. We call it the duct tape of our travel kit. Our family has used it for pretty much everything!

Always in my evening clutch:

A small jar of Skin Savior balm, mints, business cards and W3LL Nudist Colorbalm Stick in #3.

Obsession of the moment:

Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Active Moisture Time Release Vitamin D Moisture Mist. This spray features a patented, time-release system that prolongs the delivery of actives and moisture to the skin. It smells great and I have been using it with abandon all summer long!

Beautifying snack/meal:

Organic free-range chicken with a vine-ripe tomato and cucumber salad.

Beautifying drink:

Iced water with lemon and a tablespoon of chia seeds.

For ultra-glamorous effect:

I mix W3LL PEOPLE mineral powder with Skin Savior Balm for a beautiful (and healthy) cream foundation. It gives beautiful coverage and leaves my complexion looking radiant and dewy.

Perfect pout:

I use Primitive Makeup’s lip pencil in Corsica, fill it in with W3LL Nudist Colorbalm Stick in #3, and apply a light layer of Primitive Makeup’s Taj Mahal for a golden shimmer.

Beauty tool:

I use Skinny Skinny dry shampoo in Rose & Black Pepper to cut down on my weekly washing and drying. It has really helped to improve the integrity of my hair.

Weirdest beauty habit:

I slather on Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm and put on a Branche silk eye mask to sleep. I have always used a sleep mask to get a better quality sleep and I received the Branche one as a Christmas gift from my Mom. I love it – feels like such a treat to my eye area.

In the shower I keep...

A family-sized bottle of Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser, a New Best Friend Skin Shammy to remove makeup and a Konjac Body Sponge.

On my bedside table:

A pile of books and trade magazines. I like to mix up my reading with business and pleasure. One of my greatest joys is shopping for a new novel!

Once a month I…

Try and clean out one drawer, space or closet. My husband and I are fans of simplicity. It is not always easy with two boys who are 6 and 8, but for me, when there is less clutter, there is less stress.

After a long-night or rough weekend…

I sleep in late. There is nothing I love more than a lazy Saturday morning with my husband and two little boys all piled in the bed.

On little sleep I rely on…

Dark chocolate. I have given up caffeine in the form of drink, so when I need a pick me up, it is a great excuse to indulge in dark chocolate!

The practice that changed my skin:

Double Cleansing. I never liked my skin until I discovered Double Cleansing. I have suffered from red, irritable, breakout-prone skin my whole life. My skin has never looked better and I owe it to Double Cleansing. When skin is properly and deeply cleansed, treatment products work better.

Most treasured beauty tip:

Supercritical chia oil. It is our signature ingredient and is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and alpha lipoic acid. It is also clinically proven to increase moisture in the skin and to improve the skin’s barrier function.

For glowing skin...

Smile. There is nothing more beautiful than a happy soul.

My go-to DIY:

I turned my DIY into this business. When I practiced law, I crafted skincare as a way to release stress and indulge my interests. I acknowledged that I much preferred to craft and formulate skincare and my husband committed to help me, so when the time was right, we launched One Love Organics.

  3. What’s double cleansing? Besides the obvious, is there a certain way to do it that has better results? Do you use two different cleansers? 🙂

  4. Very grateful to have noticed this article. As Chalkboard is now a leading health and beauty resource for people in the know or starting to be, this question will hopefully be equally important to you. Are the orange oils and waxes in One Love Organics derived from organic sources?

It does not claim this in the ingredients. Orange oils and waxes are extracted from the peels that are by products of the orange juice industry. I perish the thought that my beloved Skin Saviour has fungicides and pesticide waxes and oils in it. The last jar I purchased is markedly much oranger in colour and smell meaning there is more orange in that particular batch and therefore it’s effect on the product and my body, more marked.
