St. Patrick's Day Party Ideas: DIY Shamrock Wreath
3.14.12
The finished St. Patrick's Day shamrock wreath...it's easier than you think!

We love blogger Brittany Jepsen of The House That Lars Built: her eye for design, her charming personality, and her penchant for crafty yet chic creative projects had us at hello. And since St. Patrick’s Day is upon us, we could think of no one better to share a dreamy green DIY for the holiday. Not only does Brittany have craftiness running through her veins, she lived in Copenhagen, Denmark and cultivated a love for the culture. Here’s Brittany with a lucky project for you to tackle this weekend…

St. Patrick’s Day
is just around the corner—this year it falls on Saturday, March 17th. Even though St. Patrick’s Day isn’t recognized in Denmark (where I live) that doesn’t mean I’m not celebrating my Irish heritage. I made a simple shamrock wreath for the season as a reminder of the luck of the Irish and recommend you do, too. It doesn’t take a green thumb or an ace DIY-er to make, and it’s the perfect activity to try with kids—or your friends before you celebrate with a pint!

  • DIY Shamrock Wreath

  • Materials:

    Shades of green paper
    Embroidery hoop
    Glue gun
    Scissors

  • Directions:

    1. Cut out a variety of shamrock shapes from among the green shades of paper.

    2. Fold the leaf of the shamrock in the center to create depth.

    3. Take the smaller shamrocks and attach them at the top, making them get bigger as you go down. Alternate the direction of the shamrocks as you go around the hoop.

    Voila!
