Charcoal Water + A Simple DIY: Molly Sims’ Got Beauty Tips For Days

After years of working with some of the industry’s best makeup artists – and making looking this amazing a full-time job, Molly Sims has some beauty tips. We’re taking note of her classic advice for staying well while out on the road and recovering the glow after those inevitable long nights. Her holistic approach, from a detox day a month to the healthy way she likes to start the day, are the kinds of little lessons we can all learn from. And these chilled oil eye patches? Already ordered….

Can’t Travel Without:

Vitamins and water. When traveling, it’s super easy to get worn down and, unfortunately, sick. Well, no one has time for that, so I stay proactive. Lots and lots of water also keeps me hydrated in the air. Flying can do a serious number on your skin!

Obsession Of The Moment:

Detox drinks with activated charcoal. I love to drink them after a long weekend or a night out!

Beautifying Snack/Meal:

I’ve recently been getting into eating according to my blood type. I need protein and I actually crave it all the time (for a reason!). So I eat a lot of almonds and lean meats. Eating beautifully means eating what your body needs. It’s specific for each person.

Weirdest Beauty Habit:

I rarely wash my hair. If I can make it up to three days, I will. I notice the difference in my hair if I end up washing it every day. It’s dry and not as manageable. A great dry shampoo can do wonders!

In A Pinch I:

Use dry shampoo. I’m serious – it’s a lifesaver. A little spritz of that and my hair is full and voluminous once again. My two favorites are Bumble & Bumble Dryspun Finish and Dry Bar Detox.

Beautifying Drink:

I love drinking a green juice and warm water with lemon right when I wake up. It jump starts my system and can be more energizing than a cup of coffee!

For Ultra-Glamorous Effect:

False lashes. A great lash can take a look to the next level. The brand Velour Lashes has great natural looking lashes.

Perfect Pout:

I love, love, love a great red lip especially for special events. Raven by Hourglass Cosmetics is my new favorite. For my day-to-day, I stick to By Terry Baume de Rose. It’s super sheer and hydrating so it’s always in my purse.

Beauty Tool:

dry brush. It helps exfoliate my skin and makes me feel super smooth. It’s truly the key to beautiful skin. I’ll do it before I get in the shower and my skin will look and feel amazing!

In The Shower I Keep:

Leonor Greyl Masque Quintessence. It’s one of my favorite deep conditioners. It makes my hair feel and smell amazing! I try to deep condition at least once every couple weeks.

On Little Sleep I Rely On:

Talika Eye Therapy Patches and lots and lots of water!

Always In My Evening Clutch:

A great lip color. Recently, I’ve been carrying Raven by Hourglass Cosmetics with me everywhere. Tom Ford lipcolor in Bruised Plum is a great one, too.

On My Bedside Table:

Calming aromatherapy oils and a glass of water.

Once A Month I:

Do a quick little detox to jumpstart my system. When I start feeling sluggish and tired, I can always tell my body needs it.

Most Treasured Beauty Tip:

Don’t underestimate the power of changing up your look from time to time. When I chopped my hair, I was ready for the change and it gave me a boost of confidence.

The Product That Changed My Skin:

Natura Bisse “The Cure” line. I love the eye cream and the sheer cream. It’s the perfect base for a healthy glow.

After A Long Night Or Rough Weekend:

I rely on my favorite brightening eye cream. I’m obsessed with Natura Bisse “The Cure” Sheer Eye. It’s pricy but a little goes a long way. It can also double as your concealer. It’s that good!

For Glowing Skin:

Eve Lom Tinted Moisturizer. It’s so sheer but also gives great coverage. I rarely wear powder unless I’m going to an event. I prefer the natural, dewy look because it’s not so drastic. Chantecaille “Just Skin” tinted moisturizer and “Liquid Lumiere” is great, too.

My Go-To DIY Recipe Or Smoothie Recipe:

I love making my own lip scrub. I’ve been doing it for years. This yummy DIY treatment is absolutely perfect for prepping your lips for a great lip color.

Molly Sims’ Lip Scrub

½ cup raw or brown sugar
3 Tbsp grapeseed oil

  1. Molly Sims uses a lot of toxic beauty products for being into health and wellness. I don’t think I’ll be taking her advice to heart.

  2. Please try Miyabi Charcoal – bamboo charcoal water filters. Makes tap water really tasty. A centuries-old, natural way to filter water from Japan. You can add it to a beautiful glass container or your refillable bottle on the go. Drinking water is so important for a daily detox; it’s easier when the water tastes good and you don’t need plastic bottles or cartridges!
