Beauty Foods

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder — especially if they’re beholding a leafy green smoothie or homemade turmeric latte.

Over the years, we’ve peeked inside our fair share of green beauty routines and found that there are two things all pros all agree on: that balanced nutrition is the ultimate beauty booster — and that blended beverages like superfood smoothies, tonics and teas provide the easiest way to integrate more beauty foods into our daily life.

Here are thirteen green beauty experts on the beauty foods and glow-inducing bevs they drink daily…

Alison Carroll

ALISON CARROLL, Wonder Valley | Turmeric lattes at home: heated cashew milk, blended until frothy with grated fresh turmeric, a little ginger root, honey and black pepper on top.

I’ll also toss all of these ingredients into a blender: almond butter, banana, coconut oil, berries, greens, cinnamon , Sun Potion’s anandamide or chlorella and a dash of mesquite.

ELLA MILLS, Deliciously Ella | My go-to smoothie includes one frozen banana, a big handful of spinach, a tablespoon of oats, a tablespoon of nut butter, a handful of frozen berries and some almond milk – so simple and so delicious.

CAP BEAUTY |
Cindy: A smoothie with mango, loads of spinach and a collagen supplement I take thanks to the advice of my genius herbalist, Daniela Turley.

Kerrilynn: My favorite teacup from Japan filled with a customized cocktail of superfood helpers that include Moon Juice Spirit and Body Dust and Four Sigma Foods reishi mushrooms

Britanie Faith

BRITANIE FAITH | I like to make a warm, calming, beautifying drink every evening. The base of it is almond milk, a pinch of Sun Potion Triphala for cleansing properties and about 5 to 10 drops of Lotus Wei Quiet Mind Flower Elixir, which really helps insomnia. I also add a teaspoon of manuka honey for its massive immunity benefits.

In my Vitamix, I mix one cup of spring water with mushroom powder, organic frozen kale, frozen blueberries, banana, a sprinkle of cinnamon, camu powder and Sun Potion Tocos powder.

Anne Sanford

ANNE SANFORD, Lurk Perfumes| Water (room temp or slightly warm) with lemon or cucumber. This is tried and true for me. It may be little spa and old school (with roots in Ayurveda), but I love how it makes me feel, and the taste really gets me to drink more water, which I always need to do. The health benefits are pretty impressive as well. Fresh lemon is super refreshing and detoxifying. It also aids in digestion, promotes clear skin and is a good source of vitamin C. Cucumber is healing and anti-inflammatory which is great for skin.

Jenna Levine

JENNA LEVINE, LINNÉ BotanicalsIced tea made from fresh or dried rose hips, hibiscus flowers and rooibos, mixed with unsweetened aloe juice and homemade ginger kombucha. Or the same tea, served hot with a dropper of schizandra berry and goji tincture, and a teaspoon of white lotus and pearl powder. In a flash: a splash of apple cider in water, and I love having rose and cucumber water ready-made in the fridge.

Nicolle Mackinnon

NO MORE DIRTY LOOKS |
Nicolle: Bija Body’s Daily Beauty Tea. Founder Melissa is an esthetician and she’s created this earthy, spicy blend that wakes me up in the morning and helps hydrate my skin.

Susannah: Ginger kombucha. When I’m craving a cocktail or beer but want a healthier option, kombucha is a fantastic stand-in. Gotta love anything that starts from a SCOBY.

MAY LINDSTROM | Water. I cannot stress enough the importance of providing your body this vital hydration. It affects absolutely everything, from the health of your organs to the glow of your skin.

Katherine L'Heureux

KATHERINE L’HEUREUX, Kahina Giving BeautyRed wine – in moderation. I’m a big believer in the powers of resveratrol.

La Bella Victoria

VICTORIA FANTAUZZI, La Bella Figura | Prickly pear juice is fantastic for the skin and is full of antioxidants, but my sister recently made me a beauty smoothie with fresh almond milk, spinach, kale, fresh mango, vanilla, raw honey and sacha inchi oil. Wow, it was delicious and made my skin feel super nourished.
