  1. Maybe this is just laziness and might have more to do with minimizing clutter when I have a deficit of time, but I stopped folding the baby’s clothes!

  2. My favorite useful household cleaning tip is using the morning’s left-over coffee grounds to clean the super-greasy pan after frying up bacon or prosciutto…. the grounds are a slightly abrasive scouring agent so they clean up stuck on bits pretty well! in addition with the coffee grounds, a squeeze of lemon in there also helps to cut down on how much dish soap is used to get the oily pan clean.

  6. This is an amazing giveaway! In an effort to cut down on the use of paper towels, we have a towel and washcloth demotion plan. When a washcloth or teatowel begins to wear, we clip a corner and use it for dusting, wiping grubby toddler hands, and cleaning household surfaces. When it’s really past its prime, we clip another corner and use it for toilets.

  10. I keep the house clean by having a chore chart. I started one for my daughter to make sure all her toys got put away before bed and realized how well it works. I then made one for myself that includes daily chores like washing dishes and weekly chores like cleaning the bathroom. Since weekly chores are spread out throughout the week I only spend a little amount of time cleaning up each day and the house stays much cleaner.

  11. I am all for Clutter Free/Clean House 🙂
One thing I do every morning while getting dressed is check my nightstand or dresser top and pick three to five items to toss out (ticket stubs, empty perfume bottles, for example). I clean the phone with an alcohol-based wipe and go through one drawer in my dresser, weeding out items I no longer wear or want.
And before I go to bed, I do a fast pickup: Put remote controls in a basket, tidy newspapers and loose papers or put them in the trash, clean off the coffee table, plump pillows and fold throws.
These little tips are great and I can feel like I sleep better and can go about my day knowing that I am Clutter free making me have a bit less stress

  12. My best cleaning tip is to keep everything organized with appropriate containers:
We keep baskets at the top & bottom of the stairs plus 1 in the living room for items that don’t belong there . That way when someone’s going to another room they just take the basket along – no searching or special trips required. (This works especially well for my 10 year old daughter since her room is upstairs & the living areas are downstairs.)
We have a catch-all toy box in our living room, so toys that are usually played with in there have a home other than the floor.
We keep a trash can in every room & a trash bowl on the kitchen counter (plus a separate composting bowl). It’s easier to throw things away when you don’t have to go far to do it!
All of these containers keep things organized & easier to deal with, but we don’t feel like we’re spending all of our time cleaning up (it literally takes 1 minute each night to clean our living room & toss everything into the appropriate bins).

  13. Living in our 650 sq. ft condo with my husband, 2 corgi dogs and adopting a newborn baby boy in the upcoming year make us live extremely efficient and clean. Once a month, we “edit” our clothes, books & “stuff” and donate any excess to our local charity or donation center. Any of the magazines we finish reading are passed along to family members or other friends. It’s also nice to donate them to the local hospitals for more current reading for any patients. We also reuse any old bathroom towels and turn them into dusting or housekeeping cloths. They’re also great to use to wipe off the dogs’ feet when they’re done going on walks outside. We also love putting used lemon & orange rinds down the garbage disposal to keep it smelling fresh. We’re also growing fresh lavender in our community garden plot that will be fun to hang in our clothes closet to keep it smelling fresh too and the basil we grew this summer is frozen in our freezer and we throw in several leafs to any pasta sauce we make to give us an extra fresh taste. Also, you can reuse your empty Pressed Juicery bottles to store any of your homemade cleaning solutions under the sink or if your dogs are misbehaving, put some almonds in an empty Pressed Juicery bottle and give it a quick shake to stop them. The sound usually surprises them and keeps you and your neighbors happy. LOL Many different ways to help keep reusing items to keep your home clean, efficient and sane. Fabulous website too!! I learn something new all the time. Thank you and keep up the good work!!!

  17. Clean windows with newspaper – streak-free, no toxins, free and you’re recycling. Also, stuff wet trainers/shoes with newspaper dries them out faster without ruining the rubber.

  18. My favourite tip for the house is clay: Green clay is very useful for pulling out the chemicals of what we’re eating. When you go back from the shop, fill a bowl with water and throw some clay stones in it. Let them melt then put inside the water the vegetables you bought. Wait for them at least 10 minutes and then wash and eat. The clay has a real power ob absorption. It can be usefull for detox the body and heal some points. In this case, all the chemicals will be attracted to the clay. Then just throw it in your garden 😉

  19. I clean all of our produce (fruits and veggies) with a solution of 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar, soak it in a clean sink for 10-15 minutes, then just rinse with water. I was amazed to see some of the things that came off of the food I was going to give to my 1 year old son (wax off of apples and pears, dirt off of everything!) Cheap and easy, and keeps my food a little healthier for us!

  20. I keep cleaning supplies in the kitchen, and every bathroom so I can clean it when I see it every time I see it conveniently. Because it isn’t any hassle at all without having to go get the things you need from somewhere else. All I have to do is reach right under the sink!
And I clean the shower every week or two when I usually get in in the morning but instead I clean it first and then clean it all off me in my nice clean shower 🙂
